Okino

Okino (オキノ) is a side character in Kiki's Delivery Service. He is a father of Kiki and a husband of Kokiri.

Appearance[]

Okino has brown hair and he wears brown glasses. He wears blue pants, a red vest and white collar shirt and a blue tie.

History[]

Okino appears in beginning of the film after Kiki announced her plans to leave home that night. He was surprised at her decision as the family had originally planned to go on a camping trip.

Later in the film, he received a message from Kiki stating she had finally found her footing living in Koriko.

Behind the Scenes[]

According to character designer Katsuya Kondō, "Kiki's father has no defining features so he was difficult to draw. I ended up having a hard time depicting him. I had the actors Akira Terao (寺尾聰, popular actor and musician) and David McCallum in mind while I was drawing."^[1] Early concept sketches showed Okino with a pipe in his mouth, while other had him sporting a light mustache.
