Chieko Baisho (born June 29, 1941, in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese singer and actress. She is portrayed as Sophie Hatter in Howl's Moving Castle. She was cast because Miyazaki is a fan, but refrained from resvaling that fact to her. [1]
