Hara Motro (ハラ・モトロ, Hara Motoro) is a character from Castle in the Sky. He is Dola's husband and works on board the airship Tiger Moth as its engineer.

Appearance[]

Motro is short, somewhat overweight, and bald with a large brown mustache. He always wears round, tinted glasses and his eyes are never seen. He is similar in design to Kamajī in Spirited Away, and to Lonebach, the antagonist of a Lupin III episode Miyazaki directed titled Wings of Death: Albatross.

History[]

When Dola makes Pazu help Motro repair the ship, he is impressed with the boy's ability. Motro is later shown playing chess with Dola, and lightly ribs her for showing kindness to Pazu and Sheeta. After the Tiger Moth is destroyed in the destruction of Laputa, he laments the loss of his ship, though Dola scolds him that she can get him another one. After that, he along with the others wave a warm goodbye to Sheeta and Pazu and he and the rest of the gang fly off to new adventures.

Trivia[]

  • Its heavily believed Motro's design became a large inspiration for Dr. Robotnik the main antagonist from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, due his appearence being largely the same for having a large moustache, a bald head, round tinted glasses completely covering his eys, and an overweight body.
