Etymology[]
- The name Nanako is written in kanji/katakana (ナナ子), which has no special meaning except the kanji "子" means "child". However, when part of the name Nana (2) is written in kanji (菜奈, 奈菜, 菜々 or 奈々), it could possibly mean:
- 菜奈 - "vegetables, greens" (菜) (na) and "apple tree" (奈) (na).
- 奈菜 - "apple tree" (奈) (na) and "vegetables, greens" (菜) (na).
- 菜々 - "vegetables, greens".
- 奈々 - "apple tree".
- Nanako's surname Okajima means "ridge, hill" (岡) (oka) and "island" (島) (shima/jima).
Trivia[]
- Yaeko and her sisters all have names that end with "-ko".
